Growth Investment Partners (GIP) Zambia has made its fourth investment, committing ZMW 50 million to Altus Financial Services.

GIP Zambia Invests ZMW 50 million in Altus Financial Services.

Less than a year after launching, we have deployed capital across manufacturing, logistics, and financial services, with each investment targeting a clear market gap. With Altus, we are addressing one of Zambia’s most pressing challenges – access to fast, reliable credit for the underserved communities.
We partnered with Altus because of its strong operating model and broad reach. As a Bank of Zambia–licensed microfinance institution with 12 branches across Zambia’s provincial centers, Altus already provides public sector employees and micro-entrepreneurs with access to credit within 24 hours of a completed application well ahead of traditional lending timelines.
Through this facility, we aim to support Altus in expanding its loan book, deepening its footprint, and reaching more underserved borrowers, particularly those often overlooked by conventional lenders.
Our decision was also informed by Altus’ track record and growth potential. Between 2021 and 2025, the business achieved revenue growth at a CAGR of over 50% while expanding its loan book from ZMW 14 million to ZMW 85 million. To us, this demonstrates both strong demand and disciplined execution – a compelling foundation for scale.
As our CEO, Musonda Chipalo, noted, this partnership reflects our commitment to increasing access to finance and supporting inclusive economic growth in Zambia.
Altus CEO Ken Simwaba emphasized that access to capital should never limit productivity or growth. This investment will allow Altus to extend fast, flexible and needed financing to more public sector workers, small business owners, farmers, and contractors.
We look forward to the opportunities this partnership will unlock as well as the impact it will have.
